24 seconds! Only 24 seconds today and the bed was made! You may have read my earlier blogs about making the bed in the morning. I don’t like doing it but one day I realized it only took 47 seconds–so it’s doable and a blessing to my wife. Then one day we found it only took 17 seconds, when we did it together. Teamwork! It’s great for building connection in marriage. BUT today I did it myself in 24 SECONDS and was reminded that life is all about…
FOCUS! Life is all about focus. I stayed totally focused while counting down the seconds and it made a huge difference (relatively speaking.) I cut my all time solo record in half. Woot! Woot!
And my wife smiled with a chuckle as she walked by seeing my hands of victory in the air.
It is such a powerful force. If you have been following my blog, you know I have written a book we are excited about–albeit is forever taking time to get on the market. (We are finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel–I promise!) I have been asked several times, “was it hard to write a book?” And my reply is always: “no, not really. I believe most anyone could do it. It just takes focus.” It took day after day after day writing one portion at a time and not giving up.
Most of us can probably look at one or several areas of our lives where we have accomplished something of value. If we stopped to think about it, we would see that staying focused was a vital part of our success.
I am well aware this is not a new idea. It is simply a reminder. But if you are like me, you need reminders.
I want to do good in life. Really, I want to do my BEST–where it matters most! I want to love my wife well. I want to continue having a significant impact in the life of my kids even though they are now all adults. I want to love my neighbors, help couples grow strong in their marriages for life, and help everyone I know experience the reality of a God who loves them!
The biggest challenge for me in doing so–is staying focused.
Fight to keep focus.
We live in a world where there are so many choices, so many distractions, and so many temptations. And every one of them steal our focus.
Take a moment. Consider what matters most to you today? What will matter most to you when you are nearing the end of your existence here on earth? Fight to make that your focus today and every day.
You don’t want to die with regrets!
“Do not set our sights on the things we can see with our eyes. All of that is fleeting; it will eventually fade away. Instead, we focus on the things we cannot see, which live on and on!” II Corinthians 4:18 The Voice Bible
